Do People of other races look down on afro textured hair?

I'm african american and happen to think kinky/curly hair is wonderful, and just as wonderful as other hair textures, but simply need different care. Im getting the vibe from some, that afrotextured hair is a curse rather than different, as with every other hair type?

just curious.

im indian and i understand that ppl have diffrent hair textures some whites have curly hair too. i have curly indian hair my sisters have straight hair its quite boring. i dont see anything wrong with kinky hair. i mean hair is hair. but i happen to like how some black women style their hair with braids and nice ponytails i do love the hair styles. and personally what i hate is that ppl think black women cant have long hair. look sweetie im indian and i always mention hair that i have a black friend who hair is up to her butt and dont think that she is mix shes a 100% black i made her use all my indian hair products. it took her two years to get her hair from neck to butt.im not lying at all!! im serious many people look at her with amaze her hair is thick and real long when she has it kinky it looks cool

I surely don't look down on afro textured hair. I think it's sexy! On both girls and guys.

I think that it's awesome! Diversity is what life is all about.

I'm white and I don't look down on afro textured hair. I actually think it is sad when I see an african american woman with her hair straightened (or anyone else for that matter). I think leaving it kinky is much more attractive. A little "enhancement" can be nice, but natural is better no matter what kind or texture or color you have. I like it when I see afro hair on a woman natural and pretty short. I think it looks exotic, not like they are trying to be something they are not. To me, straightening curly hair is similar to someone with straight hair who goes and gets a tight perm - not attractive and fake looking.

It is very beautiful when it is natural and embraced.

But, it can be ugly or beautiful just as any other type of hair. I think it depends more on the style you wear it in than the texture.

I agree completely with tinaw2006.

I think that is mostly our own race that looks down on it unfortunately. It's rather sad. It's because of all that "good hair" bull crap. I love my fro I wouldn't trade it for anything, it's so unique and beautiful

Why in the world should they? It's hair. If you're happy with the way you look, that's all that matters. Anyone that looks down on the way your hair looks...that's their problem! Everyone can't look the same. This world would be boring. So, I say, if you're happy with you...you're okay with me!
