Hairstyles??wavy hair?

i need some cute hairstyles for my school casual dance tommorow and everyday styles

my hair is like this i don't want to straighten it

i usually wear it half up half down or in a messy bun

http://buzznet-09.vo.llnwd.net/media-cdn...

i have side bang like this my hair is natural not relaxed i am african american and its 1/2 above my shoulders

http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:SqCn...

Hairstyles??wavy hair?

woww. thne your hair is gorgeous.

Well if you want it curly, scrunch it;

http://www.wikihow.com/Scrunch-Hair

or curl it with a thick curling iron.

If you want it straight, blow dry it then straighten.

Good luck!

Hairstyles??wavy hair?

you should curl your hair then put it half up. the curls will dangle at the back of your head. it looks gorgeous. my sister did this for homecoming it looked amazing. no matter what girl does it.

Hairstyles??wavy hair?

i like the one of ashley. u have to use a twin barrel porcelain iron tho like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34Y48nJCB...

Hairstyles??wavy hair?

My friend one time used rags or towels to scrunch her hair and it looked very cute. You just need to, after you take a shower wrap a few chunks of hair and wrap it all around the towel then tuck it under somewhere or take an elastic and put it around the end of it. Keep doing it till all your hair is up then sleep like that. In the morning it will be kinky curly and you could put it the top up or put it in a very high pony tail and have it like, falling down the side of your face. If your hair is too short you can use bobby pins to hold the back up. Well good luck with it!

Creme of nature shampoo?

i have that shampoo and sunsilk conditioner, for weak brittle hair? ii didn't but there shampoo because it doesn't work good for me and i bought creme of nature shampoo. im about to wash my hair (im african american) and does the two combine good? or should i use something else?

Creme of nature shampoo?

I dont know about the creme of nature stuff but DON'T use any of those Garnier Fructis products it may work for a little while but extended use will make your hair fall out at least thats what happened to mine.

Creme of nature shampoo?

I am also African American and I have used that before . It works for a while but then your hair starts to get used to it. But now I us Garnier Fructis The sleek and shine formula it is in a big green bottle use the conditioner and the shampoo for your hair. And if you want to make your hair even stronger my mom puts egg and mayo in my hair but it works! all you need to do is mix 1 egg and 2 tablespoons of mayo and put it in your hair before you condition it then you wash it out and condition hope this helps

Creme of nature shampoo?

I do not understand what you were saying. Anyway Creme of Nature Shampoo and Conditioner works really well.

Creme of nature shampoo?

I am also thinking about using that shampoo, creme of nature. my hair is the natural thick african american hair and pantene prov doesn't seem to be working for me. But you should not use the garnier stuff coz it definately made my hair feel hard and funny.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let

person cut it 2 years ago. Now it comes a little bit pass my shoulders and half way down my back. I want it 2 be a little longer so I can do a lot of different styles. How much can hair grow in about 6 months. I want 2 color my hair but I know that might make it worse. I wear my hair straight but I look better with it up. But I heard that damages the hair 2. Help! P.S. I'm African American.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Im not sure how fast hair can grow..but i would recommend using a hair strengthening shampoo and conditioner. biolage is really good if your looking for quality. Also I've also heard that wearing hair up can damage it, but a low ponytail will probably be fine. Plus it looks cute so you can try wearing your hair like that until it grows longer.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Well uuummmm...... to makeit grow faster you have to cut the tips to keep it from getting split ends and then it should grow!

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

to help your hair grow faster you should cut about half an inch off your dead ends everyother month. And in some cases coloring your hair can make it look healthier if you do it right. Also putting your hair up doesn't damages your hair if you put it up loosely and not pull too tight.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Make sure you still get frequent trims because dead, dry ends will split and break. Use good quality products for African-American hair, like the KMS Curl-Up line. If you must wear your hair up, use different tools every day. One day use a covered elastic, the next day use a butterfly clip, then try a French Twist pin. If you secure it in the same place or the same way every day, you'll be damaging your hair. Normally, hair grows about half an inch a month, so you're doing half an inch of damage to the mid-shaft of your hair if you put a ponytail in the same place every day.

As for colour, try a semi-or demi-permanent colour that only coats the hair shaft and gives shimmering overtones. Don't use a permanent colour that will REALLY dry and damage your hair, and definitely do NOT bleach! Keep conditioning and putting a shine treatment or spray in every day.

If you use a hot comb or a straightening iron you're also really damaging your hair. If you don't mind slight waves but want to temporarily relax any curl, try very-large rollers under a bonnet dryer. Good luck!

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

deep conditioning and avoid anything that makes your hair dryer like using hot curling iron and blow drying. find a good shampoo and conditioner for your specific hair type.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

I have hair that is all the way down my back. I have similar problems. Cutting the ends helps keep the split ends in check but it doesn't make your hair grow any faster. If you want it to grow faster and stay healthy, take multivitamins and eat healthy.

Coloring your hair isn't going to do a huge amount of damage to it. Just don't overdo it. You don't need to color your entire head every month. Just do the all over color once and then touch up the roots as they grow out.

I also have the problem with the ends drying out and breaking off. What I do the help prevent this is to start brushing my hair from the ends up a little at a time. I do this once a day and finger comb it the rest of the time. Also, a spray-on leave-in conditioner helps as well. Aqualage works wonders for me.

As far putting your hair up, a ponytail isn't going to hurt. Anything more elaborate will. I reserve putting my hair up for special occasions and events. On a daily basis though, I just pull it back from my face with a barrette or I braid it.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

I have tired this Horse Shampoo and Conditioner. I think it is called Mane something. It made my hair grow very fast. I bought mine at Rite Aid. It's in a white bottle with a shadow of a horse on it. Read the directions on it for African American hair. I hope this helps.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Wearing hair up *tight* can damage it. Wearing it up tight all the time day after day can pull it out by the roots.

I have not yet heard of wearing it up less-than-tight being harmful. Many people with much longer hair wear it up every day and loosen it each evening. Others do it the other way around, down in the day and braided up at night. Both groups have found their not-tight-all-the-time methods to be safe-enough for their hair.

Trimming split hair doesn't make it grow faster. It keeps it from splitting more quickly. Trimming hair that isn't split doesn't make it grow faster. It just makes it shorter. That's basic knowledge among folk with hair %26gt;36" or %26gt;1m. in length.

Hair growth rates vary with season and from person to person and with individual health and nutrition. Hair usually grows more in the summer, or so I've heard over and over again. Summer isn't here yet.

Life and haircare are much simpler when the color hair grows is accepted with grace.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

One of my friends is very large chested and she told me that she has these things like hair bumps..kinda like the ones people get on their legs even though they have little or no hair there (African AMerican women mostly know what I mean) well she says she has these things on her breast but they are very small, however, she says when her breasts itch after getting out of the shower, some of them pop and she can see faint little blond hairs or sometimes they are black and blond at the tip or either there is just pus and a blackhead comes out, it is mainly UNDERNEATH her breasts.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

My sister has the same problem. The doctor said it is the pores under there getting clogged and they unclog after bacteria(from sweating or getting moisture trapped under there) has set in and no where to go but out that is the pus she sees. Also the hair bumps is normal. We are actually covered by tiny hairs and they show up longer in some areas then others. I personally have 3 hairs on each breast around the nipple. Doc said don't pull but trim(pulling causes ingrown hair and will grow back thicker)

To treat the pus bumps. after the shower pat dry under there apply powder and elevate them for about 5 minutes until the moisture sets in also clean that area as if you were cleaning your face (like a facial scrub, this will remove the bacteria and unclog the pores before they become infected(the bumps she is getting) she'll be fine just keep those puppies dry and clean GOOD LUCK

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

I would ask a dr.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

If she has really large breasts then maybe those things are irritation from the skin chafing. If she is really worried about it then she should go to a dermatologist.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

i think she needs to go to the hospital to get it checked out, in case its something serious wrong with her

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

she should see a doctor or something about it.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

That's a question for a dermatologist. But to me it sounds like ingrown hairs and/or acne.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

Well, it sounds like she may have acne %26amp; blackheads on her breasts. She can use acne tretament to try nd prevent them. I am part African American and heavy chested as well and sometimes I get ingrown hairs on my breast that causes a pimple or bump and when I scratch it off puss comes out sometimes. Just use a body scrub to exfoliate her skin while in the shower. If that doesn't help she may need to see a dermatologist it may be skin chaffing from her bra.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

i think there is a cream the doctor can give you for that, i am pretty sue it is a form of body acne...i knew someone who had that in their inner thighs and it completely went away after the cream...

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

sounds like something to do with ingrown hairs. if you pluck or shave then the hair can grow back in at an odd angle causing the bumps. although i am not sure about the itching...

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

The best thing would be to go to a doctor

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

Uh - this happens to many large breasted women; it's not exclusive to black or african american women or african women.

Many large breasted women will get clogged hair follicles underneath their breasts. Use a loofa sponge or a regular wash cloth when bathing -- and make sure to rinse all traces of soap very well.

Another thing she can do is make sure she doesn't wear a bra when she sleeps - so air can get to the underside of her breasts. A little sun is very helpful too.

This also tends to happen more frequently to women who've had breast reductions but still have a c or d cup size - since the skin is 'rearranged' when the breast reduction takes place.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

maybe ingrown hairs

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

Could be hidradenitis suppurativa. She should go to a dermatologist that knows about HS (not many do) or research it online to see if her symptoms match.

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

try an ice pick!

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

It is probably some form of follicolitus, especially if she is damp there, mostly from sweating I would assume. Don't take my word on it.

Also, the Gorillaz were doing extremely well, winning Grammy awards and having multi-platinum albums and all. :)

What is causing this, and what can be done to stop it? Warning: GROSS?

It could just be ingrown hairs. But it could be a parasite. And they can mess your stuff up. I read a story on the net about this. she should get it checked out before it is too late.

Just a lil curious?

My newborn hair?

im african american and my boyfriend is hispanic my baby was born with real straight(like baby doll) hair he is now 6weeks and it hasnt changed it just looks more full...my cousins 6weeks old baby was born with the same hair but now its more thick and hard to comb..will my baby hair change or stay the same as he grows

Just a lil curious?

things can change.... still too young to tell.

plus when puberty sets in, hormones can change hair texture... it did mine! I had wavy when I was born and big loose curls that could brush out as a little kid... now it's really super curly! like this image of Alicia Keys: http://imstars.aufeminin.com/stars/fan/D... (but I don't do the braids in front!)

Just a lil curious?

yes

Just a lil curious?

just wait longer and see what happens. i'm sure your baby's hair will grow thicker naturally in no time.

Just a lil curious?

Your baby's hair texture, eye color, ect...will stay the same as it is at 6 months old. So wait till he is 6 months and you'll know what it'll be like. Congrats! : )

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

its complety rong 2 think this way A.) no slaves r still alive B.) no slave owners/holders r still alive C.) u cant appogize 4 ur ancestors bo-bo's the sins of child r on the parent but the sins of the parent r not on the child

and dont u going saying "well ur not black so u dont no" we, i dont fit hilters decription of the perfect race(blonde hair and blue eyes) i ahev drak hair and eyes, meaing, if i had lived in the holicost, i prob would have been sen t 2 concentration camps and went through worse then slavery evr was here in us, slaves had 2 b fed 2 keep up strength, concentraion camp ppple, no they could be starved, beaten gased and killed for beliving a certain or look and certain way(yes slaves were 2) but concentration camps were worse. so i am asking u after being eduucated on te issue do african amercans really desreve an apolgy or even money for ther race once being enslaved here?

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

night walkers answer was the best by far!!! Report It

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

Why can you not spell correctly? People think that because people want money, easy money from the government.

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

You act like they all live in castles.Everyone deserves a fair chance, especially in America.White ,Black, They all get treated like garbage these days.

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

Yes. Every person who can prove that he or she was enslaved should be compensated by the person or business that owned them. Maybe it's just me, but I haven't met many people who were either slaves or slave owners.

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

I don't see why if blacks get that why don't the Jews or the muslims or the christians, just list a group that has been enslaved. That's why my oppion is the same as yours. I have talked to some African Americans on the issue and they don't care that their ancestors were slaves. They just want to make their own way through life. But it's only the lazy ones that say that their ancestors being slaves should give them the right to get all the free stuff they want.

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

jeezuz......cant people discuss real topics instead of BS?

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

because they do.. dont be racist

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

Don't let reparations bother you so much. Blacks don't get enough respect in America to receive reparations the way the Jews did for the holocaust.

There are records of which companies benefited from slavery, and the descendents suffered from the legacy of slavery (fewer opportunities, benign neglect, etc) but paying back for slavery will never happen in the US.

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

Sorry, I was going to try and answer but only made it through the first attempted sentence. Please post back in english

Spell Check is available

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

you mean like a purchase agreement or bill of sale?they do not..so their is your fact..cheers,hail bush

Y do pple think tht african americans dersevre a pardon, or money for once being enslved??

The only ones who deserve an apology and some form of compensation are the African Americans born from 1970 and back. Any African Americans born after 1970 should not. If it were the case then everyone in this country deserves an apology and compensation due to the fact everyone at some point had a relatives or relatives who were slaves.

What do you think about this comment on a topic concerning Asian-American status in the US?

CHILL OUT my Asian bro... Stop blaming the culture for your personal problems. YOU live in America.. it is majority white, founded by white,, and driven by mostly whites.... If u don't like being an ASIAN in THE US, BLAME YOUR PARENTS WHO CAME HERE. Don't fret about the media culture and stereotypes...

TV shows are a business that is directed at the mainstream demographics.. which is white middle class... and so what if Asians are depicted in a stereotypical role.. You don't see many WHITES in lead roles in ASIA....

If your not having luck with girls and feel like a sissy.. then WORK ON YOURSELF.. GO TO THE GYM, FIX YOUR HAIR, and LEARN SOME INTERESTS OR HOBBIES... The culture is same in any country.. IT REFLECTS THE MAJORITY ETHNICITY. DO YOU HEAR AFRICAN AMERICANS complaining about how they are portrayed on TV.. NO.... IF Asians want to be on TV.. create an Asian channel.. but there is no demand for it.. Asians from Asia do a better job of producing shows...

What do you think about this comment on a topic concerning Asian-American status in the US?

I think that the vast majority of Americans would tell you to ignore trash like this, become active in your community, get a job, have a family, and get on with your life, ignoring those bigots who would incite raciest paranoia.

What do you think about this comment on a topic concerning Asian-American status in the US?

Werd! I stop watching American TV crap anyways. I date a lot of white girls and so I have no complaints.

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

Okay, I'm mixed, black and white, my hair is really curly, but it is really dry %26gt;.%26lt; so..using something a caucasian person would use doesn't really help, and using something an african american would use..doesn't produce the same results. Anyone have any suggestions?

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

paul mitchell flat iron..its expensive but it works!!!

:) hope this helps!

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

well my cousin is a stylist and she told me that if your not sure go to a hair salon and ask them. hopefully they'll do it and show you.

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

I have my hair chemically relaxed, every 3 months. I use sedu flat iron and biosilk serum to protect it from the flat iron heat and it gives it shine.I wash my hair once a week and only need to flat iron it once a week also.

I use moisturizing shampoos and deep condition my hair every week.

I am half black and half white also. Most people think I have straight hair...so I guess its working.

Let me know if you want to see a pic.

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

always keep ur hair hydrated and use a straightener

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

I am the exact same way! If you want to straigten your hair, you should definately not perm it. Use a chi 1 and a half inch flat iron. I use it. It is very pricy but if you are looking for something cheap, try the Cricket one and a half inch straightener. That is the best. I got one for 40 dollars. Don't use conair because that is for thinner and staighter hair. It's made for touchups. I hope this helps!

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

Pink is a product you can find at most department stores in the Hair department that is used for dry hair. It says that it is for Black hair, but I have white hair and it works GREAT so I don't think it will matter:

http://a1061.g.akamai.net/7/1061/5412/ho...

http://www.lusterproducts.com/products/P...

For straigtning your hair, I'd just get it done at a salon if I could afford it, but I can't and my straightner broke so I use a curling iron, and it works fine. I know that the Pink will help with your dry hair and that then it will make it easier when you straigten. The MaxiGlide is really good and your hair doesn't break!

http://www.hairstraightening.net/Maxigli...

Another one of the best is CHI

http://www.hairstraightening.net/CHI-hai...

And another one of the BEST is:

http://www.hairstraightening.net/sedrevn...

These are the best three in the world most likely, so they are a little on the costly side. They will probably work and if you need anymore tips you could go to a salon for people with black hair and they could tell you what could help you.

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

my best friend has this issue. she uses a kid relaxer once or twice a year and after she washes it you have to blowdry and flatiron the hair. Make sure to deep condition your hair for the black in you and use a light oil based protectant before you flat iron the hair

What's the best way to straighten my hair?

You have to really work at it

1.Use a smoothing shampoo and conditioner

2.Then use some straightening balm and heat protection

3.Dry using a hair drier and straghtening brush to minimise using "flat irons"

4.Use a good pair of straightners that are cermaic coated and are ionic. GHD's are probably the best on the market.

5.Use a protein treatment to strenghten the hair...like tigi bedhead dumb blonde(not just for blondes) The treatment is gr8 for all straightner addicts and those who colour their hair alot

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

Okay, I keep having this arguement with my mom she thinks that wearing your hair straight down looks dumb I think it looks better she thinks that if im gunna wear my hair down I gotta flip the ends, and I think it looks stupid and I hate it. I'm getting sick of wearing my hair like that and i just want to wear it straight down like a normal person but she says that african americans arent supposed to wear their hair straight down but I dont agree. she wont listen to me and I cant stand wearing my hair like that. What do you think, who do you think is right, what should I do? Thankss :]

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

I never had arguement with my mother on how I wore my hair. We always yelled about other stuff. heh

As for who is right and wrong. Your Both right, but it sounds like your both wrong in the way your coming at each other..

Hair is too be worn in whatever way makes You feel good as a person, male or female. If that means shaving it bald, sticking it straight up, or out to the side like your in a wind tunnel then do it. There is no set appropriate hair style for one race or another. That would be like me saying all white girls have to have long hair straight curled under, and black girls have to afros 2 feet tall, and all hispanics have to that high crown to brush the ceiling, all egyptians have to have it rolled like Princess Leih, all indians have to have pigtail braids down to their knee's with feathers...Gets kind of stupid and racist quick doesn't it?

Come at your mom from a different angle. Instead of "It's Stupid that way." try "I feel stupid. I don't want to feel stupid." be sure to come at her calmly expressing You feeling about the hair style you want. ( How it makes you feel, why you feel this way, ect.) And, again, calmly express how the hair style she wants you to way makes you feel.

(I hope I wasn't offensive in my answer. If you've taken offense to anything I've said, my deepest apologies. That wasn't not my intention.)

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

sit and say mom this is how i want my hair and that it i wnat to wer MY hair they way i want it it's MY hair !!!

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

Who's hair is it? YOURS so tell her you don't give her orders how to wear her hair, so she should lay off.

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

Don't argue with her, but also think about it, you don't have to conform to what other African Americans are doing with their hair. Have you thought of curling it under? That's very cute and classy. Having your hair straight somedays works, but flip it out one day and see what it looks like. No guy wants a girl that looks like all the others!

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

i can't believe that you and your mom had an arguement about whether to wear your hair up or down.....you guys must have no problems....wow....

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

You can wear your hair how ever you want.... just because you are African American doesn't mean you should limit yourself hairstyle wise. I have seen all kinds of styles on African Americans... so do your thing and find a good style you feel comfortable with.

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

I think you should wear your hair however you want to. Tell her that how SHE wants you to wear your hair, isnt who you are....and thats obviously not what you want. I think straight hair on african americans looks cute and so does flipped....so both of you are right, but in this case, you should be able to wear your hair however you want. If she still doesnt understand just say:

"mom i understand that you want me to wear my hair that way, but that doesnt express who I am, it expresses who YOU are and i want my friends to see me for who i am." I know that sounds a lil cheesy or watever but it will probably work :-) good luck

-Jessica

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

I think it partly depends on the shape of your face, and partly on the texture of your hair. For the most part, if you hair is softer then flipping the ends up looks pretty because it sort of floats. If you hair is stiffer (which yours probably is) I don't think it looks as good. Just my opinion, of course. It's YOUR hair - you shouldn't be forced to wear it a way that doesn't make you feel your best! ....and I don't believe that any race has a way they are "supposed" to wear their hair.

You don't say how old you are, but talk to her and explain how you feel. A mom should be willing to listen!

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

i think you should wear your hair whatever way makes you happy!!!

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

Sit her down.

Tell her that it's your hair.

And you hate the way she wants you to wear it.

Be completely honest with her.

Maybe you can find a medium.

It's your hair.

But it's also your mom.

Tell her why you think it's stupid.

But don't be to blunt about it.

Goodluck.

=]

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

It's YOUR hair, do whatever you want with it! And being African American has nothing to do with how you should wear your hair!! My mom doesn't like when I wear my hair straight, but I wear it like that anyway. She didn't like how I did my eyeliner, but I wore it like that anyway. You need to stand up to her, say "it's MY hair and I'm going to do whatever I want with it!"

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

ask you mom if you can compromise.. see if you can wear it your way for a week.. and then go back if she or you don't like it..

If not, yea it's your hair, but who's house.. and who makes the rules in the house.

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

OK well you must be a teenager. I have 2 of them and a third is now 21. You dont want to argue with your mom if you want your way. The best way to about it is to put it the form of a suggestion. Let her know you here her and her ideas but then ask her "what do you think if I do my hair.......

You have to remember you are growing up and getting older you mom is loosing her little baby, sometimes it is hard for a parent to cope with this, I know I have been there and I am there again. So try not to be rebel against your mom. Believe me things will go a lot better

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

i think ur right but i dont know how u can convince ur mom that. its your hair u should be able to do whatever u want with it

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

i am a seventies baby, mom white...dad black...

And to be honest....white people were the ones who flip the ends up...ask your mom....at what time did black women start wearing the flip...after they straightened their hair...to have the white look....or were they able to flip it ...when it was in a fro?

I am by no means making jokes..i am from both worlds...so i have a good intake on both sides... Thinking about it...I have a few pics...of my [white] mom...with flips.....but my black aunties....have fros.....

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

I am African American. I wear my hair straight all the time. You can't say that African Americans don't wear their hair a certain way. You can wear you hair anyway you want. Now since you are a minor and still live with your mom then you have to follow her rules...but to certain extent. Don't argue with your mom, but sit down and try talking to her.Be respectful. Explain to her that you really don't like wearing your hair that way and say why. Try to make sure that you have specific reasons why. Don't just say because it looks stupid. Then ask her to talk to you and explain what it is that she likes about the flipped hair and what she doesn't like about straight hair. See if you and your mom can come to mutual agreement. Instead of wearing it bone straight or flipped try wearing body curls or a wrap. This way your hair has some turn and curl to it, but it's not flipped up or straight. The body girls of course will be bigger curls (this is how I wear my hair). To get this style I wash and set my hair. I roll my hair on rods anywhere between 2-4 inches in diameter or width. Then I brush or comb the curls to get them to look teh way I want. The wrap will allow you have straight hair with a slight turn. The style kind of colds to your face. Mothers can be difficult. My mom get doesn't like they way my hair looks all the time, but she doesn't try to control what I do to my hair. I pay for hair to be done every week, and I am no longer a minor. Take good car of your hair. Try to stay away from a lot of heat products like blow dryers and curling irons. The wash and roller set really is the health choice. And make sure to use a good moisturizing conditioner. I wash my hair once a week, and I use a deep moisturizing conditioner every two weeks. If you can find one get a silk or sating pillow case to sleep on this. This will help keep your hair healthy and looking good too. And always keep your ends trimmed and healthy. I love the way my hair looks and I get compliments on it every day. I have very thick coarse jet black hair.

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

ok how you wear you hair is up to you there is no different is race some africans wear a certain style because it is convient for them

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

Curling your hair under is a little old school. How old are you? This may be one of those issues where your Mom hates your hair, but oh well.

I am having this arguement with my mom on how I do my hair, what should I do?

Little curls on the end is cute. ( for 6 year olds.) If your going to wear your hair down don't curl the ends. You'll look like a baby. You are totally right. Who would agree with your mom? I just think your mom probably doesn't understand that your grown up and not a little kid. You should talk to your mom and tell her your never going to wear your hair down with curls. And that your not a little kid anymore. This way is better than getting in a huge fight. She probably wants you to be a little kid forever. My parents want that too. Its cuz they don't want to see you grow up so fast and just leave. Go talk to ur mom. She will understand.

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

Stats:

I am an African American

I do get perms

Its medium length a little past shoulders

It started breaking out about 2 yrs. ago and in recovery haha

It doesn't break out much at all...So now I'm trying to grow it back

My hair was long about 3-4 inches below my shoulder..then it broke out because of a perm..

Its really thick and I get perms every month because it gets hard to manage after then!

Please do NOT suggest to stop getting perms. I use a new perm that doesn't break my hair out btw.

Are their any diets or something?

ANY TIPS ARE SO GREATLY APPRECIATED!.

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

Prenatal vitamins are good for making your hair grow better, at least it worked for me. They can be pretty expensive though, especially the good ones with fish oil included. Good luck - there's still plenty of time left until Christmas!!

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

i would say get extensions or a weave

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

use mane n tail shampoo. instant results guaranteed!

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

dnt cut it then it may grow longer

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

I do know there are vitamin suppliments you can take that make sure you have all the nutrients you need for maximum hair (and nail) growth. I believe you can get them at most pharmacies in the US

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

i think itll grow about 3 inches by christmas! but if you really wanna, go to some salon or something and you get get it 'pulled'...i think that's the term. make your hair longer, manually...

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

umm there is this cream or some kind of shampoo that neutralizes your hair and volumizes it. and its supposed to make your hair grow faster. talk to your doctor or hair beautition.

good luck.

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

Girl! I found the solution to your problem. Ultra Nourishair makes my hair grow like crazy it doubles my hair growth rate. Read the reviews.

http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a...

But you have to take them everyday

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

Yes take a diet from those perms, I think you are doing it to often. also dont comb the lotion down to the ends. if you are perming every month, that means that the longer hair is getting treated to the chemicals each timeyou do it , how much can the ends take? ask the place where you buy the kit for a end protector, or ask your stylist if you have your hair done in a salon good luck

OMG Help! What are some ways I can have my hair 3-4 inches longer by Christmas?

Use Dr. Miracles Hair Products. It has worked for so many of my friends. Especially the hair grease and the shampoo. For a diet routine, if and when you eat salads, put olive oil on them and not dressing. This helps your hair to remain healthy and your nails as well.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

The US Army forbids anyone but African American women to wear braids in their hair.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

I don't have a problem with it but the army may impose certain standards due to hygienic issues or standards of uniform and performance.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

I have never heard this rule; in fact, on my 20 years growing up on army bases, I saw many people braid their hair for convenience.

It's not as if black people invented braiding.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

That is the stupidest thing I ever heard of. What if you are mulatto?

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

woh cool. we should let dome dreadies in the army. they would kick ***. I was talking to a marine im like can I grow my beard in the marines he is like nope. I said im not going to war without a beard so you can go hump a pole.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

it scares me, white people look weird with braids

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

Black women's hair is naturally fuzzy if not treated with wax and can be an occupational health and safety issue for black women in the army because of the frizz in their eyes affecting their work....

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

I'm white, and I wore braids all through my childhood. I never heard anything so silly, why would the Army or anyone forbid a woman to braid their hair? Maybe it's a really old rule that needs to be modified.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

Well it must be an ethnic "political correctess" thing, basically a big hair braid would give an opponent something to grab like a handle and snap their neck. (There's a plus to going bald! The Cueball has spoken!)

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

i think the term socially acceptable is unacceptable, "free your mind and the rest will follow"-En Vogue

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

um i dont think so im white and i do i dont give a rats *** rather or not they do or not.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

i dint see no thou wrong with white people braid their hair

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

Braiding is fine, but not cornrows on white people that is just plain scary.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

that's a weird rule although Kevin Federline should be thrown in the brig for his cornrows

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

I actually went into a beauty parlor to get my hair braided like alot of black women have %26amp; they told me they don't do it on white girls. Can you believe that? I'm still looking for a place because regardlss of my color I like the way it looks

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

I did not know that. What is the reasoning behind this?

If they want to braid their hair they should be allowed to - maybe the Army doesn't want them to have that ethnic look, or perhaps their trying to perserve our culture

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

yes i do... they don't stop black people from bleaching their hair orange in the weak attempts of trying to bleach it blonde.... so, of course white people should wear braids.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

Why shouldnt it be?Its just a hairstyle.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

I believe that it should be acceptable. Being a Black woman I see nothing wrong with it but most white people's hair is too fine to hold a braid. If a white person's hair can hold a braid then go for it.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

Well it is part of the African American culture. But Hairstyles shouldnt be limited to one race. Thats absurd.

Do you think that it's socially acceptable for white people to braid their hair?

YAAA and I think it is TOTALLY sukky and UNFAIR!!!the marines make native women cut their hair too...like me way back when-THEN I found out they coudnt and ARENT aloowed to MAKE us cut our hair because SOME of were tradtional pow wow dancers...ever since then my hair has NEVER grown to its full length as it used to be....

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw p

Who smokes their pubic hair? Well nobody. But what if you did try it once and it was stronger than anyone weed on the african American market. Would you smoke it? sell it? Would you roll it up or just smoke it in a pipe?

MORE IMPORTANTLY: Can the government make consumption of pubic hair ILLEGAL and imprison you for letting it grow or having it in your house in a baggy?

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

What is wrong with you that you continue to contaminate Yahoo with your "vivid imagination" and made up stories of abuse and misuse. Obviously, tax dollars were wasted in the attempt to educate you!

It's comforting to see that you are running out of points - you will HAVE to go away1

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

You are an idiot.

You are a Moron if we were in Russia they would put you in a gulag

What is going on in your mind? Thanks for the 2 points.

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

You have a lot of time on your hands, don't you?

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

Yes. right now your body produces small quantities of natural heroin. If you make a blood filtering machine that will extract this out of your body you can sell it for good money. Go to a Narcotics Annonymous meeting and sell a vial twice a month for 100$ at a time. Problem is that you will be arrested since most of those 'recovering' addicts are also police snitches.

Smoking public hair will hurt your throat. You will sounds like Nancy Reagan after that porn actor with a 18" tool just played yo-yo with her tonsils.

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

Give John Kerry time......

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

well when I was young me and the girls almost got our pubic hair smokin :)

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

Now this is a special question. I will bring it up in our seminary discussion group Saturday night and let you know the results.

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

I thought Beavis and Butthead had been cancelled a while ago I guess I was wrong at least they were cartoon characters .

But thanks for the two points

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

Try smoking Stinky's, your pet possum, pubic hair. You might get a kick out of it.

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

I just love to be one of that law enforcers, and by the way your I.Q must be around 25

hay you would never think a natural weed would be illegal to inhale would you that is the most stupidist thing ever outlawed in america

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

To think there must have been at least some education going to waste here.

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

oh god, i just do not know where to start............

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

They might have a special police force of pubic inspectors.

If Pubic hair contained THC and got you high, could the law make you shave your pubic area? outlaw pubic hair?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

compelling question

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I'm a caucasian woman with an 8yo daughter. When she talks about friends at school, people she sees, on tv, etc who happen to be African American, she calls them "brown". (She doesn't mean it in a derogatory sense, she will say, "There's a new girl in my class and she has brown skin and long black hair") For instance, today she bought a new African Amer. baby doll. She stated she wanted a "brown" doll because she thinks the skin looks prettier when its brown. I teach her that they call that African American doll or Black doll.. She argues with me and says that it's not black, its brown. lol My question is, I'm worried if Afr. Americans would take offense to my daughter saying "brown" ? For the record, she calls caucasians "pink" lol. Thanks for your responses! : )

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I wouldn't take offense with her saying brown at all. She's expressing what she physically sees and there's nothing wrong with being honest. She hasn't been jaded by the ignorance of people. It's a beautiful thing and I would embrace it. She sounds like a very special young lady. It's a shame that some adults can't see things with the eyes of a child.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I wouldn't take offense. I think it's cute.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I don't think its offensive but then again I don't think anyone can speak for their whole race.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

That's cute! At least she appreciates %26amp; admires us %26amp; our skin color.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

No We are beautiful shades of brown from the lightest hue of dust to the darkest hue of the ground. We are God's children. For the record, I am not an hyphenated American. I am Black and proud to be.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

Children speak the truth, isn't it a shame we h ave to teach them that that is not always 'acceptable'!!?

I have a Question for African Americans........?

that is so adorable. leave her with her vocab, she can teach us all a lesson

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I'm white, but I answered so I could give all previous posters a thumbs up. I think it's cute also.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

KIDS :)

Leave her alone...atleast she's not hating. My son says he's brown too, because he know what black looks like and can't comprehend its a loose description not gospil to your skin tone.

Hell, pleny black adults say "I'm not black, I'm brown". They need to be kicked...I mean, talk about splitting a hair.

ps. You aren't having her call herself "caucasian" are you. Its positively clinical...like refering to people as homosapiens all the time.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I wouldnt take any offense if that came from a young girl. I have light brown skin, but I am of the Black/African race. Black people come in different shades and colours.

She does sound cute, and obviously you are bringing her up the right way... not to see colour when dealing with people. Kudos to you for that.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

Brown is fine.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

That is really cute, and no... I don't think there would be anyone who could find that offensive.

I think your daughter just has no idea about race at this point and only sees the differences in skin tone. Too bad we all can't be that way.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I don't take offense to It.She does have her colors right. I've never seen a person that was as Black as a blackboard or as white as chalk. Since she accepts that people are different colors and is not hateful toward them, It's okay with me.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

nah, that would just be absurd. The only problem I forsee is the "brown" kids probably call themselves Black. As long as she doesn't start arguing about it, she will be fine.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

I don't think anyone in their right mind would take offense.I'm from the UK (England) so i can not speak as an African American but as a black man from the UK she would not offend me .The good thing about kids is that they tell it like it is and that's beautiful .I'll raise a glass to you and may your daughter always be so enlighten.

I have a Question for African Americans........?

Nope, awww, that's cute. Yes, I'm okay with being "brown".

I have a Question for African Americans........?

yeah, I think it's cute as well, at least we know your daughter knows her colors very well :)

Is it possible to grow my hair from my shoulders to my back in 6 months? Please give me tips Step by

I am African American %26amp; normally get Singles (Individual Braids) can I get a professional perm or is that going to slow down my hair growth, or is it better? Thanx for all Answers

Is it possible to grow my hair from my shoulders to my back in 6 months? Please give me tips Step by Step.?

Currently i have long hair and have been learning alot so...

i do not have a relaxer i stopped getting them 5 years ago ( and i've only have 3 relaxers in my life time so this is all natural) so can show you how to take care of hair with or without a relaxer. In order to have healthy hair while having a relaxer you need to concentrate on moisturizing the hair.

1. The shampoo, unfortunately many black women are using shampoos with alcohol and petroleum jelly. step away from them. Use Aveda's shampoo.. specifically the name is Brilliant...go to the website. I use it, i love it, it mouisterizes my hair and the products are natural. i have also heard that KeraCare's shampoo is good.

2. Okay, step two condition it and then it is time to comb it out, Do not use a brush on you hair when it is wet,,it will hate you for it then break off in revenge. Put your your sections use a big tooth comb, to untangle it

3. Do a hot oil treatment (before shampooing )atleast once or twicea month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat..EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil..not the regular stuff. unfortunately i have yet to take this step however my hair is doing great.

4. Okay on the daily basis you need to pay close attention to your hair...i recommend conditioning your scalp(3-4 times a week) and your ends(everyday) so that they will not get dry and unhealthy Petroleum jellly and mineral oil are weapons of mass destruction ( in other words do not use grease) it does so much harm to your hair it cannot be all explained here. So you ask what do I use...well natural oils grapeseed oil ( use it for hair it deflects heat so it is good for flat iron users like us)

jojoba oil(i use this for my scalp), extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, emu oil, coconut oil...all these natural oils and more love you..i promise.I also use Aveda's Brilliant ( the name of the brand) emollient for my ends.

5. Next,,if you want your hair straight but still be natural it is time to get a freakin good flat iron.,i have the Chi..it does the job but I recommend getting the Sedu because of the good reviews. make sure to protect your hair..i have so thermal protector from Aveda. When flat ironing your hair do not let the iron stay on your hair for too long, just 1-2 quick swipes.

6. If you have a relaxer ( i have heard that Mizani and Affirm are the best relaxers) don't continue to relaxer all your hair everytime you go to the salon..just the new growth and try to stretch relaxers as long as possible.

7. You do not need to trim your hair everytime you go to the salon maybe every 3 to 6 months.

8. Wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf to prevent damage before you go to bed.

9. Eat healthy, drink lots of water,

10 take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.

Follow these steps and life will be good..the best part about flat ironing (which i do once a week or every two weeks not everday since it will kill your hair) is that it is not stringy but thick and healthy, yet straight and light enough to blow in the wind. (Also i read that you braid your hair so make sure that the braids are not too tight, this causes hair breakage and can prevent hair growth)

Is it possible to grow my hair from my shoulders to my back in 6 months? Please give me tips Step by Step.?

No perms. It is best to keep your hair braided for the fastest growth. The less you are messing around with your hair trying to brush it etc. the faster it will grow.

Is it possible to grow my hair from my shoulders to my back in 6 months? Please give me tips Step by Step.?

average hair grows 6cm a year. thats 1cm every 2 months. there is nothing you can do to make it grow faster. sorry

Is it possible to grow my hair from my shoulders to my back in 6 months? Please give me tips Step by Step.?

living in a colder climate promotes hair growth but that may be a little difficult to achieve :p ... you could just make sure you have all the right vitamins going into your body

Is it possible to grow my hair from my shoulders to my back in 6 months? Please give me tips Step by Step.?

My beautician said the easiest way to grow hair a bit faster is to take over the counter prenatal vitamins. Even tho ur not preg., she said this is the way she would recommend. :-)

Is it possible to grow my hair from my shoulders to my back in 6 months? Please give me tips Step by Step.?

An easy way to grow hair fast is to take pre-natal vitamins, I know it sounds strange but I have 5 kids and every time my wife was pregnant she took pre natal vitamins and her hair grew almost twice as fast as usual. They can't hurt you as your body needs it anyway just don't over do it and you should be fine.

African Americans................?

Ok I'm a light skin African American When most African American newborns are born do they usually start off with straight hair? I no not all but some when does there hair start to become more normal? not trying to offend anyone. *Please no rude comments thank you for reading.

African Americans................?

im biracial white mother %26amp; black father i just had a baby in august with a black man %26amp; her hair was straight when she was born %26amp; it never changed my hair is more on the white side i dont have to get perms or flat iron it or anything %26amp; my daughters hair is just like mine straight %26amp; thin my sisters kids were both born with straight hair now they both have afros they're 4 %26amp; 1 yr old. babies hair can change anywhere from 3months to a year old

African Americans................?

It depends on the cultural background of each family. By the way, isn't all hair, normal hair?

African Americans................?

Babies start off with baby hair then it becomes normal at about 3 years old.

African Americans................?

All babies have "good hair" at first.

African Americans................?

from birth to about two years. They get more pigment in their skin and their hair becomes more coarse, on average.

African Americans................?

Are you serious?

"Please no rude comments" what about crude %26amp; rude questions. This is absurd and offensive to all people of African descent.

Without the pollution of other races---the nature of the descendants of Africans is ----duh----African--course hair and all!

What should I do With my hair?

I am an African American male and I have a mid-size afro, and I really would like to get that john legend look or just a softer look. I have looked desperately all over the web yet I can find nothing. Can anyone help me out? And to be perfectly honest I just want to know the options I have available to my hair; so if you have any suggestions as well feel free.

What should I do With my hair?

Hey, you should wash you hair and put some leave-in conditioner. This will make you hair soft and natural. If the leave in dries you hair up, you should try washing it and putting gel. I like to use leave-in because it makes my curls expand but stay tight. If that still dosnt works...go to a black hair salon :) Good luck babe

What should I do With my hair?

My brother has an afro and what he does is take a comb and make his afro bigger.

What should I do With my hair?

I love the very "short" look... even bald if you have a nice shape head.

What should I do With my hair?

Personally I don't like afros they are played out in my perspective but you can rock any style you want. While I stick with hair cuts, maybe you should just grow it out.

What should I do With my hair?

Here is a link, i hope this helps. Or you could always go to a local salon and see if they can hook you up there.

What should I do With my hair?

yeah i love afros :]

What should I do With my hair?

Just try a texturizer. You can get them at any grocery store or beauty supply store. Texturizer help African American hair to have a softer look while maintaining its natural curl. I used on for years and loved it.

Does anyone know of a salon that does hair extensions in Ohio or Kentucky?

I live in Kentucky, but I am from Ohio. I would much rather be able to find a salon in Kentucky. I am an african american young lady desperately seeking a new hair style.

There is a place called Chappies in Crescent Springs

I have dreamed twice that someone tricked me into straightening my hair?

I am african american with natural (no chemical processing, i.e. 'perm'). Twice I have dreamed that someone has tricked me into straightening my hair - meaning I will go to a salon or stylist for something else and my hair was straightened instead. I what do you think it means? I love my natural hair and do not want to straighten it. What do you think it means?

I have dreamed twice that someone tricked me into straightening my hair?

its just a dream who cares (not to b rude ) but seriously its just a dream

I have dreamed twice that someone tricked me into straightening my hair?

ummmm....%26gt;.%26gt; kinda weird but anyways...

maybe yr gonna straighten it....maybe you'll like it also.??

I have dreamed twice that someone tricked me into straightening my hair?

Have you ever looked at Oprah's hair. I know she does use hair extensions but all in all, she is supposed to have really healthy hair and even with African American hair, she has been able to make it straight and look good.

Maybe it is a sign you have a desire for change. Not sure.

What products should I use for my hair texture?

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

i am a cosmetologist and i do multiple types of hair. when i advise extensions to non-african clientell they dont feel comfortable because its is a thing dominated by african americans and rich caucasians wich most of them arent either. why do you guys think that black women wear extensions??

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

1. They are easier to manage than natural nappy hair.

2. They give the wearer options on different styles.

3. They give volume and length

4. You can do things with the extensions without harming the client's hair. (Like dying, coloring, cutting, styling)

5. Commitment to that style is as long as the client desires it to be.

6. It's something different.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

Because they want to try different looks.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

The same reason white women tan....it's what Hollywood tells us to do and believe it or not we go ( a lot of us) go by what Hollywood wants....i don't wear weaves but i still perm my hair but that doesn't make me any less of a Black female....

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

cuz it takes to long to grow their hair to a certain length,so black women just buy it?

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

they were told by the tv that beauty is a tall woman with straight hair. I think they should keep the fro. I look at face first, then body, then hair. in fact, i would take a beautiful, slim bald chick over and ugly, fat, nice hair chick.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

because their hair is very hard to grow and breaks alot. the people that think that it is only for the African Americans are just stupid! it is for everyone, and the majority of people who purchase the hair are African American because of the type of hair they grow...

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

As a white gal who has dreamt of long hair-I have never truly considered extension-maybe because it isn't advertised to my age/racial demographic and because I'm not sure who does extentions and I always thought it would be expensive and a lot of upkeep.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

I am a black woman and I do not wear fake hair. I think the reason for this is that black women are so caught up with this complex about their hair. Basically, they want hair like white women. They want to have the long silky straight hair that God gave the white woman but not the black woman. However, I refuse to fall into that trap. I wear my hair as natural as possible.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

There is a warped sense of beauty - most people thing the straight sleek styles are more "beautiful". Personally I think natural is beautiful. Same with people's obsession for being thin - no one can see the beauty in any other body shape? Its time for people of all races to accept what is naturally beautiful instead of a textbook, monotonous version of what is attractive!

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

Being a man, I don't think of women as any particular race. They are just women, and all women want to look and feel pretty.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

Because they like it, I suppose it might be easier to manage too, because alot of african american women have curly or wavy hair, my friend said she hated her hair because it was so difficult to manage.

Personally I wouldn't wear it because I don't like the feeling of fake hair, although I suppose you could get used to that, but for myself, I don't like it, I don't care if other people wear it, its just not right for me.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

Sometimes you son't feel like dealing with your own hair.. !! That is the case for me. My hair is natural, has been for 8 years. It's pretty long too. Sometimes I get tired of it and I get my sis to cornrow it and sew some tracks in...my sis does such a good job that you would never know it isn't my hair.

Another reason is maybe some want a different look..something longer, something curly....some color... whatever....just something different.

Who cares really, as long as it looks nice. I have seen some jacked up looking weaves.....where is the hair police when you need them!!!

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

Because it takes so long for black women to grow long hair since it's so kinky. I think it actually grows as fast as white people hair but because it's so kinky you would have to use a straightner on it regularly to keep it looking straight. Now as to why i think you wear exensions is because you do and i see alot of black women wearing wigs as well Lets just face it, black women and men have hair like a briar bush lol.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

For variety , a fun change that's all . some of my black friends hair is to short or as they say nappy, so it gives them a good alternative, besides there is nothing more sexy in my eyes than to see a beautiful black women with long and straight hair, or different extensions of various colors, This is coming from a white gentleman by the way. Besides we all try to look different at some time or other, either by our clothes or hair, I have colored my hair eggplant and thought it fun, no I'm not gay just wanted to do something different and my wife loved it

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

lil c - One thing black women are NOT - is "too lazy" when it comes to hair.

I personally have never worn weave until about 6 months ago. I went to my beautician as usual, and this particular time she asked me if I wanted to be a model for a tv program she was sponsoring. It was a free hair do so I said yes. Anyway she weaved my whole head, to give me that "Beyonce" look. (her words - not mine) I didn't like it at first. But loved what it did to my natural hair, which stays braided.

Since then I wore weave - even though my natural hair is longer. And actually no one knew it was weave until I told them - even my black sistas! (Normally we can spot weave a mile away!)

When it's all said and done - different strokes, for different folks.

Who cares anyway?

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

well the bad weaves you see is just a woman being lazy but the ones where you can't tell those are the ones that wear for the style. I really dont see why so many people care what black women do with their hair, including other black women. It's their head.

I've never had weave but I've had my hair braided with extensions, too itchy!

Tell your clients that Brittany Spears wears extentions.... or will that make it worse?

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

There are many reasons why they do that. Your point?

If you are a CERTIFIED cosmetologist, you wouldn't be asking a lame question like that on Yahoo Answers. It doesn't make any sense.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

Why do women from other races:

have fake tan

hair bleach

false eye lashes

false nails

Breast implants

Butt implants

Padded bra

Eye lash curl

And loads of make-up

And its not just black women who wear false hair:

Victoria Beckham

Paris Hilton

Britney Spears

Christina

All wear hair extentions and they are not black!

I used to work in a hair salon and most of the girls who came in for hair extentions were white.

At the end of the day every woman wants to look and feel confident regardless of their race, and will do whatever to enhance their appearance.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

Long hair is more feminine and glamouros than short hair. Or is that just what we are taught by society and the media?

I've noticed that Black people with a certain hair texture (less curly) tend to have longer hair.

I've also noticed that most Black people I see with long hair (regardless of texture) have dreads.

I've even noticed now that I have dreads my hair is growing a lot more than it did before. I don't know why that is though.

Sorry I can't help I'm just as stumped as you. I don't think anyone knows the answer unless they do research into it. But I think there are scientific and social reasons behind it.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

You don't have to be black to have hair extensions. Sweetie you have beautiful hair. They are many beautiful black women out there. Every race is beautiful!!

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

I am African American and I wear fake hair. I wear it because of low to no maintenance. One trip to the Beauty supply and you're done. It is a one time expense that is on and off;put it on and go take it off . The extensions are a different matter. I did wear braids a lot at one time. I have opted for ponytails and curly full-heads. The cosmetologists, though very good are expensive. I am a very full figured woman and I usually cannot find a shop that is will ing to invest in the type of chair I need .

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

If your white clientel don't feel comfortable with hair extensions, let them know that the celebrities have them all. the only thing i have noticed is that black people can handle the sew on kind because the hair is coarser. Some of the white people have brittle or too thin hair to hold the braids multiple times. i think hair extensions are the best beauty things on the market right now. When i had mine i would go out without makeup and automatically i felt more feminine. I haven't asked anyone, but in my thoughts, black hair doesn't grow fast enough or sometimes long enough and is easily over processed with chemical straighteners - it's a lot easier wear extensions. i'd like to know if i'm wrong, but that's my thinking. especially with today's style - stick straight or BIG curls it's easier.

But really...who doesn't want extensions? as long as it's real hair.

Why do you think Black Women wear fake hair?? looking for opinions from all races?

maybe they dont like their own hair.

Is it safe to use pure aloe vera gel on the scalp and hair in between washing my hair once a week?

I am an African American woman. I plan on spraying my hair daily with aloe vera gel to moisturize my hair. I will add a tablespoon of glycerine to it. Is this okay?

Is it safe to use pure aloe vera gel on the scalp and hair in between washing my hair once a week?

That is perfectly safe! Vegetable glyercin is a great humectant and aloe vera tames frizzies and fly aways. They are both great for moisture so go for it.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

I'm African American. I just cut all of my hair off 2 days ago to a fade for another one of my "go natural" phases. How do I get my hair to grow faster than it does? Does it matter how often I wash or wet it? Does the Marsha Brady brushing thing work?

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

How Can I Make My Hair Grow Faster?

The subject I want to discuss today is a question that is often asked and seems to concern many women. It usually comes in two forms; 閳ユ发y hair doesn閳ユ獩 get any longer.閳?and 閳ユ窏ow can I make my hair grow faster?閳?br>

I閳ユ獡 sorry to say that, despite numerous advertising campaigns, there are no magic ointments or quick fix treatments that will make your hair grow faster. The average growth rate is one half inch per month. Sometimes hair does not seem to get longer because the ends are breaking off, making it appear not only, not to grow but even to get shorter. There isn閳ユ獩 anything you can do to increase that, however you can take certain measures to keep your hair as strong as possible.

Let me explain.

The longer your hair is, the 閳ユΖlder閳?the ends of it are. Everyday, wear and tear, such as sun, wind, blow drying, curling irons and other heat styling tools, even shampooing and brushing, all work together to gradually erode each hair. This eventually causes split ends that will, in turn, result in the hair breaking off.

The first step is prevention. Care for your hair as you would any valuable possession. Use a mild shampoo that is recommended for your hair type, such as: oily hair, dry hair, color treated, etc. If you are unsure, seek the advice of a hairdresser. I suggest using a conditioner after every shampoo; again, one that is formulated for your hair type. The conditioner will soften the hair and reduce the amount of wear causing friction between hair strands. Reduce the amount of heat styling you do. Whenever possible, let your hair dry naturally.

Finally, get regular trims. If you are striving for longer hair, see your hairdresser at least every ten to twelve weeks to have one quarter to one half inch trimmed. This will get rid of any budding split ends while, at the same time, allowing for growth.

While making sure these things are taken care of, remember that the hair papilla, where the hair begins, is nourished by blood vessels, so concentrate on a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you are getting the essential nutrients required by your body and promote good circulation with regular exercise and scalp massage.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

Really all you can do is wash it every night and keep it healthy and clean.Don't use cheap conditoner or shampoo that just distroys your hair.Plus TRY and keep it in a tight pony tail if you can because when it pulls your hair it pulls your skin giving the brain more room for faster blood flow.Check it.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

I use Hair Beauty Plus...but be careful...it also makes your hair thicker. I have ridiculously thin hair so it's okay for me, but if you don't want your hair getting any thicker, don't use this stuff.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

Being a woman of color myself %26amp; having natural shoulder length hair, I find that washing my hair once a week with a deep conditoner treatment to follow works well. Also lubracatig your scalp twice a week with a herbal ointment. Because our hair is prone to being dry and brittle be sure to cover your hair prior to going to bed with a silk wrap or bonnet, to reduce breakage at night due to friction caused while sleeping...No hon the Marsha Brady thing just doesn't cut it for us to much agitated pulling and tugging

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

If I were you I wouldn't brush it at all, especially if its in its natural state, it can cause breakage. The main thing is to keep it moisturized. Not with petroleum based or mineral oil based products. Try things like Profectives lotions and water based creams, and hair oil on wet hair. Keep it clean by washing it every other day, like every three days, condition it frequently, comb and detangle with a wide toothed comb. About a year ago my hair wasn't even a full two inches long, now its almost to the middle of my back. I spray it every other night with a leave in conditioner, my favorite is 911, and I take vitamins specifically for hair skin and nails, I also take biotin, vitamin e and c... I use sulfate free shampoos and I'm in love with a conditioner called Paves Un-Damaged Goods deep repairing conditioning milk. I also am addicted to this reconstructor by soft sheen. In my growing out phase I wore wigs under a satin cap to minimize styling and stress on hair, it kept it from breaking off... I also wear a fitted cap at night to keep my hair from rubbing against pillows and becoming dry and breaking off..

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

Try Lush New Shampoo Bar, it stimulates hair growth and I am happy with the results: http://beauty-tricks.com/index.php?optio...

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

I am an african american! I been wanting to dye my hair red red for a long time but just dont know how to do it! What is my first step? What items do I need to purchase?

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

im not sure about african american hair i dye my hair all the time but im white so if i were you i would go to a salon and have it done

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

You need to go to a salon. Not only will this be hard to do at home, but red does not like to stay in hair for very long (it fades very quickly). Hairdressers will have the good products that keep color in longer, and will also know the best techniques to prevent as much damage to your hair as possible.

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

To color your are at home this just isn't possible to achieve a red red color. Your hair needs to be pre-softened. Which means a couple of shades of your natural hair color need to be removed before applying the red red color. This is best left to the professionals. Yes it can be done at home, but the end result may not be what you really want. It can have blotching or just an outrages color. Reds are difficult enough to get in and keep in all hair types, not just in African American hair. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a lot of heartache. Go to a salon.
