You should use a weave brush which is like a paddle or vent brush. And yes you shouldn't shampoo your hair everyday like you usually might because it will loosen the braids and make it look bad. Its different for white ppl because your hair is more slippery so it is harder for your hair to hold the over all style. They can last anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks if you take care of them right.
