what were you allowed to bring to boot camp and are cornrows or micro braids exceptable? (because i have african american type hair and its way easier to deal with it in those styles.) just wondering.

Multiple braids were allowed when I was in. Regulations change from time to time and you will be taught male and female regulations in boot camp.

No, everyone has to look the same. All women have to look the same and all men have to look the same. If you don't like your hair the way it is, cut it off.
For females who joined the marines...?
There is two hair styles allowed in uniform: hair not touching your shoulder blades can be left alone or tied up, it your hair is longer then it has to be in a bun, with no hair hanging down on your face (female DI's will teach you.) The way your hair is probably fine but then again, I have not seen a female Marine with micro braids or cornrows as of yet.

They will shave your head.
