Relaxer/blow-out kit, biracial daughters hair is all natural right now...need help to tame it?

my daughter is biracial (caucasian/african american) 12 yrs old and her hair is all natural and thick, curly, dry, and long. she refuses to keep any type of grease in it. can't stand grease in her hair, oil sheen nothing...washes her hair everyday also. it is totally unmanageable and can't even get a comb through it. i thought relaxing it again would help. hubby suggests a blowout kit, not sure what that is or what the difference is. getting her hair straightened is out of the question-doesn't stay straight and too much money to maintain. THOUGHTS??????

my heart goes out to you both - my mother didn't know what to do with my hair either. try here: www.precioushue.biz for all natural products and here: www.precioushue.com for ethnic hair products.

grease is not the answer!! no way! your daughter is right. natural oils that penetrate the hair shaft work best. also, maybe straightened hair is not the way to go - find out what the hair wants to do and then work with that. henna can relax curl but only body art quality henna. washing hair every day is way too drying for curly or coiled hair and makes it harder to handle - read up on all this hair care at www.precioushue.biz. good luck. I bet she's tender-headed, too, the worse combination believe me ;-)

Hi!! I saw your question on Yahoo Answers and I have a GREAT product to tell ya about! I got a free sample from them in the mail yesterday from Mixed Chicks, which is for biracial, curly hair (for ANY type of curly hair) and there hair products are Report It

i think u need to really focus on conditioning. try some hair masks... u can also make ur own with mayonaise, avocado, etc. honey and baking soda are also things u can add to ur shampoo to help soften the hair.

if all else fails, try going to (japanese or korean) salon and ask them about the Magic Straight perm. it really works to make hair look silky and wonderful! but they need to see ur hair in order to see if it can handle the perm.. good luck

1) you should moisturize her hair, dry curly hair is extremely fragile. also, moisturized hair looks better %26amp; will help with her hair texture

2) shampooing everyday is extremely drying if the shampoo contains drying agents, such as lauryl sulfate or laureth sulfate. if the shampoo is all natural then you can do it, as long as you moisturize properly afterwards.

3) only brush/comb curly hair when it is wet. once dry, it is too fragile to deal with that type of stress.

4) www.motowngirl.com, has lots of information on how to deal with natural hair.

5) you can email me if you have any specific questions
